Hanuman Garhi

This ancient temple is renowned for its miraculous powers and divine energy. Lord Hanuman, one of the most significant figures in the Ramayana and the devoted disciple of Lord Rama, holds a special place in Ayodhya. That is why, in the birthplace of Shri Ram, Lord Hanuman is accorded great importance, and the Shri Hanuman Garhi Temple is considered one of the most prominent shrines dedicated to him.The construction of the Hanuman Garhi Temple dates back to around the 10th century, although its present structure was established approximately 300 years ago under the guidance of Swami Abhayramdas Ji and commissioned by Nawab Siraj-ud-Daula.

According to ancient legends, this is the very place where Lord Rama, after his victory over Lanka, offered a place for his beloved devotee Hanuman to reside. The main temple houses the idol of Maa Anjani, with young Hanuman seated in her lap. The temple walls are adorned with illustrations depicting episodes from the Ramayana and the life journey of Lord Shri Ram. It is believed that offering a red robe (lal chola) to Hanuman Ji here absolves devotees of all their sins and afflictions. The continuously burning lamp is regarded by devotees as a symbol of Hanuman Ji’s divine presence.
